Wellness After Cancer Treatment

Mental Health Matters…a lot

  • A cancer experience can be a traumatic one for some and it is important for others to validate what you experienced
  • Unfortunately, mental health resources are not always shared with patients and caregivers early enough
  • Some studies estimate that individuals diagnosed younger and with more advanced disease may be more likely to experience PTSD
  • While the amount of experienced stress, anxiety and depression may differ from person to person, it is important to attend to your mental health needs early and often
  • Even if you are not experiencing any negative feelings or mental health challenges, consider asking what is available from your oncology providers, social worker, or nurse navigator
